2025 Ends in Defeat for the Royals

In a tightly contested encounter, the Royals ultimately fell short despite an electric start and long spells of dominance.

The Royals began brilliantly, moving the ball with confidence and pressing relentlessly from the opening whistle. That early intensity paid off in the 4th minute when a long throw from Preston caused chaos in the Tyler Hill box. The ball broke kindly to Joey, who showed great composure to set up Alex, and his emphatic finish fired the Royals into an early lead.

The pressure continued, with the Royals controlling much of the play, but they were unable to extend their advantage. That failure proved costly in the 22nd minute when Tyler Hill broke through the Royals’ defence. Their initial effort was well saved by Bailey, but the Tyler Hill attackers reacted quicker to the rebound and turned it home to level the score.

Despite the setback, momentum remained firmly with the Royals. A succession of corners followed, and on the 30th minute Joey delivered a dangerous low corner that was flicked on by Thomas before Reggie poked the ball home, scoring his first goal for the club and restoring the lead.

However, the lead was short-lived. Just three minutes later, Tyler Hill played a quality ball into the centre, which was calmly finished to make it 2–2. Despite sustained Royals pressure, the teams went into the break deadlocked.

The second half was far more open, with play going end to end. Tyler Hill continued to pose a threat as the match became increasingly scrappy from both sides. As the game wore on, Tyler Hill took control, scoring two unanswered goals in the second half to seal the victory.

A disappointing end to the year for the Royals, who will feel their performance deserved more from an entertaining but ultimately frustrating contest.
